Great post, Shawna! I agree, a blank page is terrifying! Sometimes I have the hardest time forcing myself to write because of that fear. Those first few paragraphs are the worst. I need to find some goals to help motivate me!

Hm, my calendar has been blank lately. I should go fill it with SMART goals and rewards. Great blog post, Shawna.

so true, Shawna. I love how you give specific examples of SMART goals, especially related to writing. And how you mention not to self-sabatoge by choosing goals that are too much. Great post!

The SMART goal system makes so much sense. Small goals, instead of one large, overwhelming goal can really help keep one motivated. My dad always tells me to keep talking small steps toward my goal. It might take a week, a month, or a year, but in the end you'll get there.

Great post. Thank you for the positive inspiration.

Great advice, Shawna. I've always found wishy-washy goals give similar results and often have to kick myself not to leave wiggle room.

Wow! I love the SMART goal idea. I am definitely going to use this in my life--so easy to remember, too. I can think of a million things this would come in handy with: weight loss, exercise, household chores, and, of course, writing. :D Thank you for sharing!

I love the SMART goal-setting idiom. It definitely forces you to be clear and concise on the goals. Terrific blog post, Shawna!

Thanks for this post - couldn't be more timely for me, as I'm starting a new manuscript and having a hard time finding my writing mojo right now. Small attainable goals - that's the key for me.

Shawna - It's so true. Goals are important to moving us forward but the Goals have to have some quantifyable measure or really they are just detailed hopes and dreams that never cross over into reality.

Great post. Thanks.
